The final project was the first actual project I did for the class that wasn’t a client project. I had pulled the quote I used from a song by Boxcar racer and just illustrated what I saw whenever I would hear the song. The picture is more of an “emo” perception of what the apocalypse would look like. The artwork was made almost entirely with the pen and blend tools, but I feel it doesn’t take away from the overall appeal of the piece. The first thing that I did was I made the earth, which just happens to be a huge black circle, then I found a city skyline on sxc.hu and traced it to use as my “City of the Damned” and after placing it in the piece I placed a copy of it right behind in a different color and blended it to give it a lighting effect. The red rays are meant to show either that a bomb has already fallen or could also be interpreted as the sunrise I suppose. The original cloud was white and really just looked like there was a chunk missing out of the picture, so I changed it to black blending back to red to fit in with the rays. The yellow rain was an after thought that just looked better than the blue I had had there before. But I do think this is my best creation so far.
